Sophie Ryan Sport and Exercise Psychology
for every mind

I’m Sophie Ryan, a Sport and Exercise Psychologist in Training (SEPiT). I work with individuals and teams to optimise performance, mindset and exercise behaviours in a way that fits their goals and lifestyle.
My approach is client-focused and holistic, meaning I don’t follow a one-size-fits-all framework, instead, I tailor my work to the person in front of me, using evidence-based strategies to support meaningful and lasting change.
My Background
Based in South London, I hold an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience and a Master's degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology.
I began my MSc with a drive to understand the psychological factors that distinguish elite performers at the highest levels of sport, alongside a desire to help individuals reach their full potential. Through my studies and practice, I developed a particular interest in the integration of psychology and skill acquisition to enhance performance in high-level sporting environments.
Alongside this, I came to appreciate the importance of providing support for individuals looking to engage with, or re-engage in, exercise beyond elite sport. Whether your goals relate to performance, wellbeing, confidence, motivation or developing a healthier relationship with physical activity, I believe psychological support can play a valuable role in helping you move forward!
In addition to my psychology training, I work as a Physiotherapy Assistant within a neurological rehabilitation setting. This experience has broadened my understanding of the diverse needs and encounters individuals may face when participating in exercise and physical activity. While my role is not as a specialist clinician in neurological rehabilitation, it has reinforced my commitment to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where people from a wide range of backgrounds feel comfortable seeking support.
